Angel Lift VS Limit Reverse

Comparing the two, they usually are in similar territory, but there are exceptions to uses.

Personally, Limit Reverse proves more variable by being able to revive searchers such as Sangan, whilst Angel Lift cannot.

Whilst they both lose out to the ever powerful Call of the Haunted, decks that still need more recursion of cards have to make the call between the two.

Whilst Angel Lift can call out bigger and hopefully badder monsters, as well as those with ? ATK,

As opposed to this, Limit Reverse can call out monsters with up to 1000ATK, usually allowing the calling of level 3s or 4s.

"No Drawback Level 4 Tuner"

When tuners and synchros first came out, the best tuners were Frembel Magical and Mist Valley Soldier, for the sole reason of being a level 4 tuner, with no drawback whatsoever.

However, since then, the game has evolved, and the novelty of level 4 tuners with no drawback has since decreased.

Or has the power creep of other tuners/synchros available made this so?

Thats all for today.

Frembel without Buster

I've noticed that many people in the OCG are really hesitant to use Frembell without any sort of Stardust Buster stuck in it.

Again the world continues to puzzle me...

Gravekeepers Ascendant VS Gaurd

Obviously youll be running 3X Gravekeepers Spy anyways, but what about the last card?

Some believe in using ascendant, as you can turn a Gravekeepers Spy into a 1:1 trade before releasing the ascendant for a Monarch or something.

One the other hand, if you draw the card, Gravekeepers Gaurd works far better, as it has functionality by itself.

From the deck balance point of view, these both are nigh identical.

However, recently, people have been using Ascendant over Gaurd.

Is the 1:1 trade really worth the gamble of not drawing it?

Summon Limiter

One deck that can really work without needing more than 2 summons is Monarchs.

Although they can get in the way of Treeborn Frog, there are more ways to get your hands on Tribute Fodder.

Other options include Core Chimail type decks, though they already have some better options, and Hero Beatdown/Control types.

On the other hand, it completely shuts down Infernity, Frogs, and who knows what else.

Viable?

Absolute Zero

There are several ways to play him.

1. I run Heroes. I also run water heroes and already run Miracle Fusion.

2. I run Heroes. However, with a lesser amount of Water monsters which dont directly contribute to the general purpose of the deck.

3. I run 2 Hero monsters, and two treeborn Frog. Why not splash one Miracle Fusion?

4. I run Hero Beatdown. I splash a few waters and run Miracle Fusion at the cost of synergy.

5. I run Waters. Lets throw in a few Alius for good measure and for Absolute Zero

6. I run 2 Divas. I also run 3 Alius. Why not be a genius and stick in a few Miracle Fusion?

Thats all for today.

Sin Truth Dragon

Sin Truth Dragon.

Its big. Its 5000ATK. It takes half your life points to summon when a Sin Dragon is destroyed, and loves to wreck havoc every turn.

Quick trivia: You cannot use My Body as a Shield to stop his effect. Its in the damage step.

Quite obviously, the Sin Dragon of choice would be Sin Stardust Dragon, right? Since he covers the Field Spell being destroyed problem as well.

Fissure/Smashing Ground from the opponent aside, the enemy wont readily blow up Sin Dragons mindlessly, because of this card, especially if its sitting in the graveyard. Not without a Bottomless Trap Hole of some sort.

So, how CAN you summon Sin Truth Dragon easily?

One of the easiest ways of course would be to crash Sin Stardust(or even Sin Red Eyes, since its smaller), into a big monster on the opponents field.

The other way is a bit more tricky, and instead takes advantage of the fact that Sin dragons self destruct when the field spell leaves the field.

But wait! If you destroy your own field spell, the only time for Sin Truth Dragon to pop out would be right after the Sin Dragon self destructs, right before you CAN activate a new field spell, right?

Not quite.

The secret is to activate on top of an old field spell.

This is how it plays out:

1. New field spell is played. Rule Mechanics say the old field spell is destroyed.
2. Because the field spell was destroyed, the Sin Dragon is destroyed.
3. The new field spell is Activated(not quite the same as played, but rather similar)
4. When the field spell resolves, the summoning timing for Sin Truth Dragon is met, and you can summon this Dragon.
(Optional 5th Step: Have Sin Truth Dragon be bottomless trap hole'd)

Another would be for the field spell leaving the field(ie: SET a new one), and chaining Skill Drain to the effect.

One way to take advantage of the latter path would be to Set on top of a Geartown, netting you 8000ATK worth of beatsticks on the field at once.

As for summoning him, the half life points cost is very steep. Also, without having him in the graveyard to start with and hence completely forseeable in plays, you still lose considerable advantage.

Being DARK, its quite easy to send to the graveyard, thanks to cards like Armageddon Knight or Dark Grepher, but that doesnt stop it from using a few cards to send to the graveyard.

Now, half your life points usually is seen as just a cost.

However, you should also consider ways to abuse this fact.

Half your life points almost always drops you below your opponents life count. Perfect for the
activation of Megamorph. Now your 5000ATK beast is a 10000ATK beast.

Also, one of the best ways to destroy your own Sin Dragon to summon Truth is Generation Shift. It gives you another Sin Dragon right away to play with.

Thats all for today.

Current total profit/winnings: USD 575.(Yeah Im not a high roller but I'm 18 people.)

Spent about 25 of the winnings on a really nice dinner.

Vision Hero Trinity

Can be easily used in Hero decks to dump 3 quick heroes via Future Fusion.

Really useful especially for Miracle Fusion/Dark Calling.

Of course, Elixir or God Neos can be used to similar purposes, but V Hero Trinity is by far more flexible.

Oh. And you think it managed to dodge the English eratta by being a fusion monster?

Think again. Hero's Bond thinks differently.

And on the subject of God Neos, yes, it can copy this guy's triple attack effect, given that God Neos was fusion summoned(Miracle Fusion). A triple attacking 3000 ATK guy after a triple attacking 5000 ATK guy is painful.

Thats all for today.

V Hero Trinity

First things first: No you cannot use Miracle Fusion to summon him. Should be obvious, but apparently some people need clarification on these simple things.

V Hero Trinity is the second fusion that uses the general HERO, alongside Absolute Zero, giving it a heap of versatility, right?

Wrong. By being a fusion of three monster, it loses a lot of its power. What made Absolute Zero and the other elemental heroes good was its ability to fuse with only two monsters: One on your field, and one on the opponents(hopefully).

Alas, three monsters on the field that are heroes arent easy to come by.

However, even if you did get out this 5000ATK triple attacker, getting past monsters isnt quite enough. Similarly to Neos Knight, it lost a big chunk of its potential broken'ness to the inability to give the opponent a strong direct attack.

So is this just a bigger Neos Knight?

To be honest, Id stick with Neos Knight. Miracle Fusion schenanigans.

Of course, without the ability to direct attack, Trinity would pretty much be the defining factor in a whole new breed of OTKs.

Just imagine: Cyclone/Trunade -> Polymerization -> Trinity -> 5000ATK X3.

Perhaps the inability to direct attack was too strong a blow to make this balanced?

What do you think. How could Trinity have been balanced?

Thats all for today.

Dragunity Arms Laevatiin... again

Laevateinn is a name of a weapon from Norse mythology. Exactly what it is is still unknown. Some legends say its a Rod, a stick, a spear, a sword, or even an axe(no joke). It literally means "Magic Stick that fixes Harm"(Yeah. an AXE.) It was owned/is owned by the giant Sult, and is said to be the one that destroys Yggdrasil when the world comes to an end.

And apparently it only has 2600 ATK. Good luck blowing up the world with that.
Also, the illustration shows him carrying swords. Swords that are sticks, but not at the same time.

Dragunity Arms Mistilteinn has a less amazing story.

The origin of the word comes from Norse mythology. Mistilteinn means "mistletoe" in Norse. In the legend, it was the only thing that could harm a certain god, so Loki made a stick out of mistletoe to kill Baldur. Hence, it bears the name "Magic evil stick that kills gods".

Yeah.

Dragunity Aclys

An Aclys is a type of spear used originally by the Romans. In latin, it means "Little Spear of Death", a more shorter but accurate version of the more commonly used/romanticized versions of roman spears. Eventually, the word came to refer to many more spears than it was supposed to.

For those who do not know, each Dragunity monster is named after a polearm(Stick with a blade on it).

However, the Dragunity Knights are named after legendary spears and polearms, either used by gods, by heroes, or by heroes after being stolen by gods to slay said gods.

Draguntiy Arms looks like a let down to this theme, though... They've degraded to naming them after STICKS. Legendary sticks, yes, but STICKS.

Thats all for today.

Shooting Star Dragon

If you can turn a synchro monster into a Tuner monster(Gaia Knight + Natural Tune), and have a Level 4 monster whoes name was changed to Stardust Dragon(Phantom of Chaos), you can synchro summon this guy.

Both the Synchro materials can be summoned back via all sorts of Synchro Monster revival(Wicked Reborn and Lost star descent comes to mind)

If you activate the first effect, you have the potential to end the game, but do keep in mind that if you hit 0 tuners, you cannot attack with Shooting Star Dragon

Tuning

Add 1 Synchron tuner from your deck to your hand. Then, send the top card of your deck to your graveyard.

Thoughts:

Just broken stuff. Obviously everyones favorite targets will be Junk Synchron and Quickdraw Synchron, followed closely by the single Drill Synchron in Synchron beatdown decks.

Some people might overlook it, but you cannot search Synchron Explorer with this card. That means no 1 card SEARCHABLE Natural Beast for you.

The mill isnt much especially when you look at things such as Arms Hole and stuff that the world has previously seen.

Synchron Beat decks will definately take a bigger chunk of the metagame. Also, this means that Nitro Warrior prices will/might increase(not that they were anywhere near considerable before).

Also the best friend for quickdraw dandyspam deck? I think not. The 2/3 Copies of Quickdraw dont quite justify so many copies. 1 at most, and 2 is pushing it, not to mention most of the time you'll be milling off Quickdraws too...

On a completely unrelated note, Nitro Warrior can take down Quickdraw decks rather easily, for those who have yet to notice.

Oh and by the way, makes an excellent addition to Future Overload OTK.deck.

Surging Knight Dragoequites Post 3

It doesnt cause the opponent to take burn damage after reducing the damage to 0, like some cards, it causes the OPPONENT to take damage for the OPPONENTS EFFECTS.

Hence: Doesnt start chain link, and having two of these out means it doesnt cause an infinite loop.

How this works:

Player A and B have Surging Knight Dragoequites out. Either one has a Level B limit, hence why they dont kill each other.

Player A activates Death Meteor or something.

Dragoequites B's continuous effect causes player A to take damage from player A's Death Meteor.

Because Player A's death Meteor isnt player B's card, Player A's Dragoequites cannot turn the burn on the enemy.

Player A is a dumbass and gets burnt.

On the subject of Equipped Monsters

"This card" not "This Monster"

Makes a big difference.

For example:

When Pachy/Vanity Fiend/Christia is equipped as an equip monster, it retains its "No special summoning"

Jinzo confers its trap stopping power to its equip monster'd self.

Oh and did I mention Dragunity Arms Laevatiin equipping a Core Chimail Dragon is really cool?

Frog Monarch's Weaknesses

Since I've been playing them for a week or so...

Crack to a different Dimension: One of them and you've more or less lost. The deck doesnt depend on Substitoad, it depends on Treeborn Frog and Monarchs. Without said Treeborn due to Crack to a different Dimension, you have game.

Vanity Fiend/Devil: Their only out is soul exchange. Also, if you have nothing else out in the field, the only out will have to hurt themself, allowing you to pull out another one.

Mirror Match: Damage Race. Monarch decks lose the damage race quite quickly. LaDD dies in the mirror.
