Effect Veiler

Have you people realized that it stops continuous effects too?

It allows you to tackle effects of monsters such as Psycho Shocker which cards such as Doomcaliber knight and Divine Wrath are useless against.

Thats all for today.

G-Ray Out.

  1. Hm so Effect Veiler, works on ignition, trigger, or Continuous Effects, so one could negate Jinzo and be able to activate/use Traps until the End Phase and whatnot.

Veiler is definitely usable in more Decktypes, but it's much more limited in its activation timing (only during your opponent's Main Phase). This means the only real time you could spring it as a surprise is when your opponent is declaring they're exiting their Main Phase and moving onto the Battle Phase (which may or may not matter depending on the type of effect) or End Phase (which would be pointless then).

I'd still rather use a similar but in my view better card instead - Herald of Orange Light instead because Herald is able to activate pretty much anytime during your or your opponent's turn, but only really works when you have a good number of Fairy-Type monsters in your Deck and costing you 2 cards to activate while Veiler is just 1. However, I find Herald to be more preferable overall (in terms of just themselves and not Decktypes) because of its wider range of activation time, giving it a greater element of surprise.

Ok There's also the fact that Effect Veiler merely negates the effect of Effect Monsters. Herald negates the activation of Effect Monsters and destroys the card. Only type of effect "immune" to it being Continuous Effects which aren't used in very large numbers. So if your opponent uses DAD or Judgment Dragoon, Veiler will merely prevent them from destroying your field, but that'd still leave them as 2800-3000 beatsticks for the turn while Herald would do that AND destroy them, thus eliminating the entire threat.

That's pretty much what balances the 2 out. Veiler requires less to activate, but is more limited in activation time and still leaves the card intact. Herald costs more to activate, but has a wider range of activation time and actually destroys the card.

So whilst its good and all - Forbidden Chalice still works on Jinzo and Doom Cali Knigth and co etc whereas Wrath fails but Veiler would onlybe useful against those such effect monsters - whereas Herald would be useful against many more

thus i have to say Herald > Veiler sadly
