皆の衆ごきげんよう

Hey everyone.

There comes an end to all great things, and unfortunately, Yugioh has to be one of them.

Yugioh has brought great things and great times for me, and it should for you too.

I've met many people and made many friends in both the casual and competitive scene, and I'm really glad I've been playing for the past 3.5 years.

I've thought about it for a while now, and I have decided to completely quit Yugioh, and with it, Yugioh blogging.

Personally, I feel that I'm growing a bit too old to be playing Yugioh, and have been toning down my thoughts about the game significantly...

As you might have also realized, my thoughts that go onto the blog have also gone down in quality and quantity.
And I dont like it either.

Looking back, I made some great posts and had great ideas and was pulling upon knowledge from across the world, and this is no more.

As to why exactly I'm quitting, its a mix of reasons.
Time taken up, losing my entire Saturdays, the toll its taking on studies, and a few others.

Obviously it wont be an easy process, and I'll probally relapse some time or another(lol its drugs), but I hope I'll make it out, and put Yugioh in the past, carrying with me the memories it gave me.

You might disagree, but I've decided its something I just gotta do.

I've already dismantled all but one of my decks, and am already planning on giving away most of my cards of value.

Yugioh is a great game.

It has great people, great concepts, great competitions, and a wonderful community.

Blogging has been a great experience over the past 2 and a half years, and I hope the blogging community continues to grow and expand.

By September, I'll have given off or sold off all of my Yugioh related things, keeping only my deck and playmat.(or maybe even giving those away)

So someday in the future, when you see somebody playing Absolute Zero with a custom Stratos Playmat, you'll know I'm back.

So I guess this is goodbye, everybody online. It's been a great run.
Its time to take Only the Duel off your bookmarks list.

Let us meet once again, someday.

Oh, and for those who were fooled for 1.5 years straight, Rauzes=G-Ray=Soliel.
I figured it would be fun to use a different name to post depending on my mood/concept of the post. I actually used different language and grammer for each one of these online personas.

Yugioh Decks Recently

Looking over most of the decks Ive made recently, I've noticed something...

Well actually two things.

First off, theyre strong. They're almost all copies of the top decks around with 1 or 2 changes... Or of each other.

Second...

They're getting boring.

Somehow I've lost the touch to make fun combo based decks for enjoyment of play recently.

Most of the decks I've been making havent been as fun based, and have rather been tournament play based.

Yugioh is a competitive hobby, broken down into two words:

Competetive

and HOBBY

(And for you bitching collectors out there, its a trading card game too... I guess.)

Since clearly everyone else in the world is an expert on the competitive bit, I'll spare you the lecture.

Yes, when going to tournaments, "Beating Six Samurai" "Shutting down Tengu" and "Winning in General" are important points that you have to consider.

OF COURSE.

But when youre just playing around, making decks that are fun?

Guess what: Those things DONT MATTER (much)

When building a fun deck or concept deck, whats important is:

Its consistent

Its fun to play

It wont die to everything and anything

And most importantly, It can put on a show.

Fun decks ought to be fun, and put effort into making it as fun as possible, no?

I've lost all track of where this post was going so yeah.

Photon Cereberos, Light Serpent

I find a lot of potential in these 2 cards.

Light serpent can be thrown into Dark World to help Rank 3 exceeds(recycle those monsters you RFPd for gate)

Photon Cereberos is a trap stun on legs. that also supports Rank 3 Exceed.(seriously, you goanna leave it to die?)

Winning And Losing

1: When Winners make mistakes, they report "I made a mistake"
When losers make mistakes, they tend to say "It wasnt my fault"

2: The reason for winning is "I got lucky"
The reason for losing is "I wasnt lucky", regardless of what luck/draws you actually got

3: Winners work more on their tournament reports, and spend more time on them.(Hence learn more)
Losers just complain and write short reports

4: Winners can get straight to the problem in their play/deck
Losers tend to beat around the bush.

5: Winners are willing to be humble and outright admit they dont win all the time
Losers dont usually dont face their faults and make the same mistakes/wrong plays several times.

6: Winners tend to assess the areas needed to be assesssed, whilst losers tend to assess... completely unrelated areas.

7: Winners will be able to say "They can improve"
Losers... Less so.

8: People who win often will search out people better than them, in order to improve(And conversely allow people less than them to seek them out so they can improve)
People who lose often will search out people lower than them in order to prove they dont lose all the time.

9: Winners are proud of where they stay and put effort into every thing they do
Losers tend to say "they were given this"

10: Winners will always say "There is something better"
Losers will say "Is there really a need to change? Things just didnt go well this time"

Dueling Network post omg

Call me cynical or frank,

but Dueling Network is going to be hit with a Cease and Decease letter...

Soon, or eventually.

Unfortunate, yes.

Horrible, yes.

Konami IS losing profits to Dueling Network, which is the "basis" they will use.

How this works:

1: You think of a deck idea/steal one off of the genius people from Team Alcoholic Beverages

2: Instead of building the deck and testing it, you go to Dueling Network, and build it and test it.

3: It doesnt really work BECAUSE YOURE PLAYING IT WRONG

But focus on #2, shall we.

Konami is missing profits...

" Instead of building the deck and testing it, you go to Dueling Network, and build it and test it."

yeah right around here, yeah.

Yes, most of us know of a wonderful thing called Proxies, but still...

The unfortunate truth is that Dueling Network is going to end... Sooner than you think, because its that good.

Until then, for those who lost to me, I have to say...

Seriously? W.T.F.

In Response to the Comments

In response to the comments from the previous post. Some of which didnt exactly clear the moderation.

First off, yes, I was brutal. I'm sorry. But its true.

Yes, of course there are several things we care about in tournament... you whining about how you lost is NOT one of those things.

Sheddon brought up some GOOD points that are often seen in good tournament reports: atmosphere of tournament, top decks there, and what you learnt, etc.

And have we seen some good tournament reports?

A good tournament report reports about THE TOURNAMENT, not YOUR GAMES

Tournament Reports

I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but its the truth.

Its a Wizel-Eat-Stardust world out there, and frankly, lots of people dont really care about your tournament.

May 10, 2011

Lrnin2BGud

So people go to tournaments to win.

Right?

Actually, for some, no... but thats not the point.

The point of todays post(aside from me doing something other than studying), is training.

Training, practice, playtesting sessions.

Whatever you call them, IF you're really intent on winning big tournaments, you do them. A lot.

Tournaments are not won on luck alone.

(Request post because I had a guy ask how our team trains, and when explaining I was like Ooh would make good post! so why not)

No, playing against randoms sure does NOT count.

Thats for fun. Yugioh IS a game, so dont forget to really enjoy playing then.

So what makes for a good training session?

First and foremost, a circle of friends.

A circle of friends is not 1 person. A circle of friends to test with is around 4-5 people(may or may not include yourself)

Friends make many things awesome. Eating, drinking, throwing up, and in this case, Yugioh. Its easier to do something when you're enjoying it partially/fully. Also, if theyre training for this tournament(or not, which well cover late), theyll be equally intent on playing too.

Obviously, this circle of friends will be the people playing with you. Over. And. Over.

What I reccomend is 6-7 together at once.

Second: Decks.

Decks. And several of them.

A key aspect to having a good testing session is having a wide distribution of decks, Especially the top tier decks.

I repeat: ESPECIALLY the top tier decks.

A very important thing to do when youre training for a big tournament is to learn how to play out of as many situations as possible, against top tier decks.

And by top tier, we mean Tier 1, and Tier 1.5

Anything under this is also valid game, so learn to play against these too, to a lesser extent.

How we do it is that to testing sessions, we all bring our Main tournament deck, AND our sub/second deck.(I'm poor and only have 1 main and 1 Team deck. No sub deck XD)

Some of our team members have several sub decks, so that helps. If you have awesome people with every top tier deck, thats win too.

Ideally, you will have(in total of everyones pooled decks), at least Two of each tier 1, and at least one of each tier 1.5.

Since your aims are to learn how to play against each and every top deck, you dont necessarily need to do so from only 1 point of view.

The reason why we pool decks is that the best way to learn a deck's weakness is to be it.

IE: Play the deck. (And lose. And know why.)

Obviously during the session, you need to focus on what deck you will be using during the tournament, but playing the deck lends itself to learning the comboes faster. Much faster.

Its a good tradeoff, but a choice you have to make.

So, once again, play against a variety of tier one decks.

Third, is the point of the training session.

Its to learn to be good.

Dont forget it.

Dont pull off stupid plays, however spectacular they are.

Dont gamble your chances.

You're learning to play against everything a deck can throw against you,

and to make the most of what cards you happen to have at that time.

Ok, so learning to play against the deck you can handle, right?

But what about the opponent? You cant learn to combat all a deck can throw out... if they dont throw it out right?

And if you didn't see a play that could have helped,

Heres another concept our team uses: Players who are NOT there to train for the tournament.

The reason why you're there and the main focus of training can be various:

You cant join the tournament, You DIDNT join the tourney, you dont NEED to train, Or you're not on the team's A-List(or B-List. Or C-List. Yes. We've been to tournaments big enough together that we had to C-List some people!(me T.T I was lyk rly nub 3 months into playing then... Still 4-2'd though!))

This will be the person playing the other deck. They will have to see the myriad plays available to them as well, but they're the ones that are supposed to throw them out... for you to get out of.

Of course, that not available all the time, so its fine to do without. Point in check, you need to learn as many various moves the deck can cook up.

And those plays that you should have seen and didnt?

Unless someone mentions it, you probally never will see it.

Thats why when we trained, we used a few 3rd person views.

Remember how I mentioned 6-7 people training?

Its not 3 games going on at once. Its two.

First off, in Japan, table space, with any space, isnt exactly something places like to give out for free.

But the solution was to have the people not playing be Watching, learning, and most importantly, commenting.

If you see an OTK, Say it.

If you see a good play, SAY IT!

While your team may be different, ours had varying levels of experience.

No, not your "ooh draw cyclone throw it out" and "I know your entire deck from before you drew just by the way you shuffled" varying levels of experience, k. We had standards. haha.

Varying levels of experience meaning some people have played for 10 years, and others(me) had only played for 2 months or less(*cough*SotB*cough*), so obviously the people with more experience know more plays and can see things better.

(Our training techniques were from memories of about 2 years ago. I've been playing over 2 years, not some random nub that just started haha)

Share that knowledge.

Learn.

Fourth, and should be established earlier but I'm on a roll here: Somewhere to play.

Yep.

Important.

Only little kids play on the streets with duel disks.

If you're in for the fish, you play. On tables.

Some people use home, Starbucks, School, a Cafe, a Karaoke Box(coincidentally a good place to hold a small scale friends tournament, but I digress), etc.

(Its come to my attention that MacDonalds and KFC in some countries DONT kick you out after you eat? Maybe you could try there)

The point is: You need somewhere you can bunker down and play.

For. A. Long. Time.

Training sessions are like any other. They should be long.

How long, of course, is up to you.

A good productive one could be 4 to 5 hours. At least. (Some people will be :O at this. Hey I dont see you topping Black Feather CS, or any other championship for that matter... regularly.)

We used to go from 4.30-5PM on Friday to About 8-9AM on Saturday. Obviously for these long sessions we'd have changed out of our school uniforms, and took individual breaks to study, read, smoke, talk with people, eat.

Fifth: Maximizing the amount of situations you will be facing.

This is back at the playing point of view.

When training, be sure to opt to go second, and expose your plays to something you're not used to doing.

In the tournament, you will be going second 50% of the time. Your deck should be designed to work this, but so should your experience and psyche.

Going first is easy. Going second isnt. Thus, learning how to analyze the field on the second turn is a skill thats better picked up obviously when you go second.

Six: Motive to win.

In the tournament, theres a motive to win: Cash prize.

But in testing... less so.

So, your brain will see this activity as "pointless" and either lop it into "fun"(which is still fine)...

OR the brain will shut down, because it doesnt see any benefit in devoting time and effort and neurons to the activity.

Completely. Actually. Wasting. Your. Time.

Solution? Make a incentive to win.

To make the most of your time, you need to compell yourself to win. Having something physical and short and expendable/consumable helps. Its psychology.

Remember the "oh If I can read this entire chapter by tonight I can eat food" thing you used to motivate yourself?

Use it here.

Candy, Cookies, drink tokens for the club, money, cards, money, food, cigarettes...

These are the better examples I can think off the top of my head.

Yeah. I'm telling you to bet your cards when you are training.

It works wonders.

So, Once more:

Circle of friends, hopefully at least 6-7.

Decks that represent the meta, and the decks you will be bringing to the tournament, and a few commonly seen rouges.

Somewhere to play... for several hours on end.

Everyone working together to get better and especially train the less experienced.

Maximize the variety of situations and plays.

Motivate yourself. With material gain.

Lrn2BGud, and one day you'll be winning CSs all around the world.

Or, you know, just ignore this entire post and read every other post on the blog. Theyre mostly about enjoying the game.

Concept: Emperor Control

No not monarchs...

It works by using By Order of the Emperor... as a draw source.

You take high ATK Level 4 beaters with effects that trigger on summon...

Eg: Arcana Force Chariot, Wanghu, etc.

Especially with Wanghu, you can negate Wanghu... If you want to.

So even if you special summon lower leveled monsters... No problem!

When the opponent normal summons, Activate Naturia Cosmobeet, Negate its effect with By Order of the Emperor, and draw 1... and have your Beet still in your hand!(omg)

Stick in a bunch of combat support cards such as Burden of the Mighty or Dimension Prison

And youre good to go!

May 2, 2011

Resources

Quite unlike other card games, Yugioh doesnt have quite as many "limited resources" in the game mechanic...

Games like Magic the Gathering have Card Advantage, but also Mana, which limits how much you can do in one turn. Also Life.

But in Yugioh, you only have 1 Normal Summon, Your cards, and your life. Nothing else is stopping you.

Even so, the normal summon isnt exactly a "limited resource" nowadays no?

Which brings us to our next point... How much life exactly is an extra card worth?

1000 LP? Clearly not. Upstart goblin has shown us that 1000LP isnt even worth +0 advantage.

People would readily sacrifice LP for extra cards... But how much LP is worth a +1 advantage to you?

Regardless of what people think, which of the following cards would YOU use?

Bloody Draw/N.Spell

Pay Half your life points. Draw 2 Cards.

Vase of Greed/N.Spell

Pay 3000LP. Draw 2 Cards.

So how much Life Advantage is worth One card advantage to you?

Regardless of the effect these cards will have on the meta/economy.

And yes, a lot of people would use both.

Dealing with Inverz Roach

So... Inverz Roach.

1900 Rank 4 Exceed.

OH MY FREAKING GOD.

Whilst its effect is mandatory, meaning youre goanna be killing your own level 5 or more special summons, it has 2 shots at killing something probally bigger than itself.

So how do we tackle?

1: Kill it by battle!
2: Kill it with Fire!
3: Kill it with its own effect!

So our side deck options are pretty limited...

Bottomless and Warning should already be in when tackling a Exceed type deck, so thats #2.
As for Battle it VS Make it run out of ammo... thats the hard call.

Our options that make valid side deck choices are:

Dark Hero Zombyre

Cyber Dragon.

Lets start...

Cyber dragon doubles taking down Machiners, Light Beat, Skill drain types, is a Light.

BUT its a special summon... it will be eaten by Roach.

Dark Hero is level 4, eats up your normal summon, and can help doing similar things.

Plus points also include: Your own Inverz Roach/Hope, being DARK, and being searchable.

Whilst Cyber Dragon is more flexible to tackle a variety of decks, Decks who truely suffer when fighting against Inverz Roach, such as Junk Doppel, should choose Dark Hero Zombyre, simply because the loss of momentum is worth that much against a roach.

Playing EXCEED

Sorry for the lack of posts recently. Been busy with this that and one thing or another.

So I finally get my Exceeds!

And my thoughts are...

Meh.

Unlike Synchroes when they first came out, Exceeds have yet to prove incredibly useful...

Especially Hope. Whilst its "ooh can negate Attacks!" effect is pretty awesome, I used it a grand total of ONCE in a whole day.

Once.

Summoned: Quite a lot.

However, it does do the job I play them for: To be 2500/Light Beatsticks.

The biggest difference between Hope and his components I used is that instead of 2 medium sized beatsticks, theres one BIG one.

My Gurenzaurus always gets a sad fate at the RFP zone... when hes supposed to die and go to the graveyard.

I be upset :(

Though turning some Spirit reapers/Snowmans/Debris Revived monsters to 2000ATK FIRE beatsticks is fun.

For those people who cannot seem to understand why we run Nova Master, Gurenzaurus is FIRE. So is Black Rose Dragon.

(Zomg monsters can be summoned from extra deck!)

Though I didnt actually play Gachigachi Gantetsu, I played against it once.

Thoughts: FUUUUUUUUU *RAGE*

Yes, its only 500-900ATK/1800-2200DEF, But its "Hi I cant die 2 times" is really quite annoying.

Yes, I have 3 Gemini Sparks, and 2 Hero Blast,

But you have to WASTE two of them on him before you can actually punch his face in.

Basically its really annoying and the only real way to get rid of him is to waste valuable removal.

The double level 2s is acually kinda hard to come across, which is another draw back.

Though dropping Wizel or Synchroing out Gungnir or Fusioning a Nova Master or Masked Changing a Vapor or Miracle Synchro fusion for Dragoequites would easily solve that problem...

Actually if I could bring out so many boss monsters with so little effort whats the complaint again?

On a totally positive note, the arts look really cool!

I didnt know hope had wings lol

For the rest of the deck:

Cyber Dragons... No.

Though it was a good idea on paper, actually against Machiners it failed to perform too often today...

Its simply a matter of playing when you run up against Machiners... save bottomless trap hole and Dimension Prison for fortress... and you're good to go!

The slots have been changed to 1 Miracle Synchro Fusion and 1 Dragoequites.

Although Trap stun hurts.

Ryko:

This is why I dont play Lightlords.

Ryko woof! Mill 3!

Gemini Spark, Hero Blast, Another Neos.

>.>

Ryko woof! Mill 3!

Dark Hole, Monster Reborn, Book of Moon.

>.>

Ryko woof! Mill 3!

Miracle Fusion, Miracle Fusion, Miracle Fusion.

>.>

Ryko Exceed! Oh wait no I dont have Extra deck space!

But yes, occasionally Ryko does mill well: Snowman, Debris, Another Neos. If this is your definition of "well"

Overall:

Drawing into monsters is a pain... though the deck makes the most of each and every single monster... something most decks cannot.

Balance is really nice.

EXCEED is fun. Always keep in mind access to all the elements to dictate your moves.(Fire/Wind/Water/Light)(Earth sucks and Dark isnt out. They dont exist for all you care.)

Gurenzaurus > Revise Dragon. Revise Dragon is Water. Gurenzaurus is Fire. Hence to access the less present element, we chose Gurenzaurus.

Thats for Rank 3. For Rank 4, Exceed out only as a defensive mechanism(up the ATKs hanging around on your field to one 2500.)

Being able to Exceed, Synchro, Fusion, Contact Fusion, Miracle Synchro Fusion, and Mask Change ALL in One deck... is really fun. Give it a shot.

Now Everyone Can Exceed

April 5, 2011

Tomabo

Petite Tomabo is quite the card with the release of exceeds.

Destroyed by battle can lead to:
Level 5 Synchro
2 Level 2 Tuners
Rank 3 Exceed
Rank 2 Exceed!

April 4, 2011

Sin Parallel Gear

Revive with Limit Reverse!

Turn to Defense!

Summon Sin Truth Dragon!

March 30, 2011

Quasar

Shooting Quasar Dragon might seem to have harsh summoning requirements, especially getting the synchro monsters low enough to use,

But Level stealer, leading to the formation of other Synchro monsters to use as material can really help out.

Shooting Quasar in Level Stealer Synchro seems so plausible now. In multiple.

Psycho Returner Exceed

Assuming you use Psycho Returner as an exceed material, if you send it to the graveyard, it allows you to special summon a Jinzo back.

Free timing for Psycho returner!

March 26, 2011

Wandering Dead

If you special summon this guy in the first turn via Pyramid Turtle... Hes 4000ATK.

Keep in mind that if you summon him, his attack is still 0 until the effect resolves, IE: No Bottomless Trap Hole.

0DEF means that he can be recovered by Nightmare Recurring.

If youre less than 2000LP, and use Nightmare recurring for two of these... wow!

Thats all for today.

March 22, 2011

GachigachiGantetsu

I just realized...

But isnt this card kinda the bane of Hero Beat?

Summon it in defense and... Hero Beat kinda has to kill it TWICE before they can hit over it!

Zombie Carrier

If you revive it, and use it as exceed material, it will still go back to the graveyard, with current rulings.

Exceed Hope

I've been playing around with it, and been thinking...

It works really well with Elemental Hero Ocean.

It protects from attacks against Ocean, giving you some more advantage.

Ocean generates even more level 4s from the graveyard.

Recycle your Stratos over and over!

Of course, in the event your Ocean gets bottomless'd(which its really really good at, btw. Ocean ranks one of the best cards in pulling out Bottomless Trap Hole)

Well you still have the cards on the Field for Hope, and he certainly wont be Bottomless'd, because people just dont set 2 bottomless.

Sum Keen observationing

Hi there.

So today I went to play for the first time in a while. First time in new format.

Most importantly, first time since Book of Moon got limited.

One thing I noticed about my plays since Book got limited.

People tend to use it less in stopping attacks.

In the deck I used today, I prefered much more versatile plays, and only resorted to touching Book of Moon if it was a last resort.

Stopping Synchros? Rageki Break discarding DAD rather than Book.

Stopping attacks? I didnt have a Monarch but still dropped Fader.

Have you noticed a change in your own usage of Book?

I just thought it was interesting.

The less of something you know you have, the more valuable it becomes.

An update on the earthquake.

We have heard back from all of our team members in Japan. All but one of us are unaffected by the Tsunami's and Earthquakes.

One of friends (Daiquiri) was admitted to the hospital. We await details. Hes probally ok.

As a group, Team Alcoholic Beverages is preparing at least 50,000 yen to donate to Earthquake recovery.

Please consider giving your monetary support to the cause of your choice.

(If theres any misunderstanding, no, we arent taking money from you guys. We're putting money together by ourselves, and I'm simply suggesting you do the same if you can)

After all, Yugioh does come out of Japan, and no recover = no new cards. :P

Earthquake

Most of us and our families are alive and well.

On behalf of all of us here at Only the Duel, thanks for your concerns.

Keep on supporting the rescue efforts.

Revise Dragon

So the only way it can get to the "Rival's 3000ATK Dragon" status is by staying alive... for two turns...

Yeah, it doesnt lose its attack at end phase!

Oh yeah. First ever poster Water monster. Interesting trivia.

February 24, 2011

Exceed

So they have drawbacks when they run out of bullets.

Hopefully most of the exceeds dont get too powerful, such as Brionac, Trishula, etc etc.

I think ease of summoning is the main reason why most of the Exceeds so far... well... suck.

/Rauzes

Hope

Hope can negate your OWN attacks too, keep that in mind.

Whilst it wont work against Mirror Force, it helps against Dimension Prison.

And without Exceed Materials, the self destruction effect goes on a chain, so opening a Skill Drain works well.

Blast Fuse Kikou

Proper post this time. Not spastic and half hearted like Rau-chan.

So. Blasting Fuse.

Wins Matches.

No. I'm serious. Side one and you can trick your opponent into giving the entire match to you.

Make sure your judge is your friend though.

BUT Actually using it.

While it looks like a conditional 2:2 trade(that wins matches by some sweet talking and bitching), it is actually...

Machine Emperor in disguise.

It destroys all the cards in the same column, and most players(even if they dont illegally move their cards around)(or are smart enough to learn not to do so)(especially if they get warned by the other player and pick up they also are reading Only The Duel) line up a monster and spell/trap.

THIS INCLUDES your own monster!

Destroy Tokens!

Destroy Mind Control'd monsters(there are actually specific rules as to which monster card zone the card goes to/can go to)

Destroy Mind Control'd Tokens!

Destroy your own Sangan!

Destroy Clone Token of Sangan that was Mind Control'd!

Most importantly, destroy your own monsters, and use the condition to drop a Wizel(because seriously, who in their right mind uses Skiel right?)

Here's the better bit: Wizel can also be used to tribute for Deck Devastation Virus and Eradicator Epidemic Virus(or, of course, another Blasting Fuse)

So...

Drop Wizel, fire off some viruses, giving you full knowledge of whats coming at you very very soon, and use Double Cyclones and Blasting Fuses to pinpoint eliminate what you want to get rid of.

Because finding out which of those 3 set cards is Mirror Force is SOO~ HARDD~ (Curved card, btw.)(barring that, first card set without any thinking.)(Or you know, all the other sly evil underhanded methods we teach you.)

Just an idea.

Double Cyclone matching up with Terraformings, Gear Towns, and Machine Emperor Fortress, other Double Cyclones, or Feindish Chain's that only went off to save your life.

For regular old Machine Emperor summoning, Sin Dragons, Captain Golds, Playful Possum, whatever floats your boat.

Just like Malevolent Catastrophe brought around a paradigm shift(Setting in Main Phase 2), even though absolutely nobody uses it, Blasting Fuse ought to do the same.

Thats all for today.

It is currently the Standby Phase of your turn.
Deal precisely 5300 Damage to the opponent this turn.
Alternatively, reduce the opponent's deck to 0 Cards
The RFP and Graveyard gives you a hint as to what cards CANNOT be used.
Yes, this means you CANNOT abuse Formula Synchron to draw up your deck(boo hoo. Cry more.)
If you draw, the first card will be Monster Reborn, and the last card in your deck will be Chaos Sorcerer.
Unless, of course, you decide to shuffle your deck via Foolish burial. But who would do that?
For the most part, cards in the RFP zone cannot be summoned back.
The solution will not depend on luck.

All right, for all of you who could not figure it out, here is how you turn a Junk Synchron into a triple-five-god-dragon-obliterating force.

You dont.

Most people got the first few steps right.
Open with your foolish. Dump Cross Porter, and search...

Glow Moss.

Mind Control one Five God Dragon.

Normal Summon Junk Synchron, and activate its effect.

Activate Cross Porter effect. Send Five God Dragon to the graveyard, to special summon Glow Moss. Its effect is negated, so you do not special summon glow moss.

Synchro into Hyper Librarian.

Throw Moss for One for One. Special Summon Spore @.@

Your deck is now 2 cards. Limit reverse Glow Moss, and Synchro a Armory Arm.

Now, remove Glow Moss for Spore, special summoning him as level 4. Synchro them together for Scrap Dragon.

Draw both your cards. Your hand is now: Chaos Sorcerer, and Monster Reborn.

Play Monster Reborn for Junk Synchron, and Synchro him with Librarian to form an Infernity Death Dragon.

With Armory Arm as the Light, and Junk Synchron as the Dark, special summon Chaos Sorcerer.

Using Infernity Death Dragon's effect, and Scrap Dragon's effect, destroy the 2 Five God Dragons. The opponent will drop Wizel.
2500 Damage from Infernity Death Dragon's effect

Use Chaos Sorcerer's effect to remove from play Wizel.

Scrap Dragon is now the only monster available to attack. Direct attack for game.

2800 + 2500 = 5300 Damage.

In bold was the key move I was trying to convey this time around.

Thats all for today.

So lets see what each Sin Dragon has that no other sin Dragon Has

Sin Blue Eyes: Removes From Deck, and is Level 8(Sin Paradox Dragon!)

Sin Rainbow Dragon: Removes from Hand OR Deck, but is level 10(NO Sin Paradox Dragon)

Sin Cyber End: Ok Just plain amazing. Removes from Extra deck, hence eating up no main deck space, but is level 10.

Sin Stardust: Removes from Extra deck, is level 8, but is ONLY 2500ATK

Sin Red Eyes: Can Synchro with Level 1s... >.>

Sin Truth: Err... Sin + Dragon but still not a classic Sin Dragon

Sin Paradox: Same thing.

January 23, 2011

Triple Librarian

A lot of decks can summon 3 Librarians in 1 turn.

Its quite powerful, drawing 3 every time some synchro hits the field.

But what you dont realize is that by doing so, regardless of advantage

You just gave the opponent a whole new win Condition.

Librarian's draw is compulsary, so lining up 3 of them will mean if the opponent can make a few Synchro summons, regardless of how massive your hand is by the end of the day, you can be drawn to death.

Thats all for today.

G-Ray Out.

For the most part, cards in the RFP zone cannot be summoned back.
The solution will not depend on luck.

Good luck! Think hard!

EDIT:
First and foremost, I realized an error I did in calculations. YOUR Life has been changed from 2400 to 1200.

To make things significantly simpler, 1 Five Headed Dragon on the opponent's field has been dropped. Not sure why you couldnt get rid of it anyhows. You have resources to get rid of all 3 AND Wizel AND Gorz.
Anyhows, if you can figure out how to kill the opponent, try with 3.

DO NOT FORGET that Gorz can be dropped in response to a burn... to burn you back(and hence kill you on your turn)
That means that Infernity Death Dragon to burn Wizel is one of the things that will not happen... OR IS IT?

Just to clarify, yes, in response to Infernity Death Dragon burning the last card on the field, you CAN drop BOTH Wizel and Gorz. They will form a chain to be special summoned. Then Gorz will try to kill you via burn.

To Clarify:
NO You CANNOT be reduced below 0LP or draw after having 0 cards in the deck. It would be really wonderful to win, but you really need to learn how to win BEFORE losing. So, if you lose before you win... its not valid.

The remaining 3 cards of the deck can be anything you want(so long as its legal and it isnt in the RFP zone already).
Similarly, the 10 cards in your extra deck can be anything legal you want.

If you shuffle the deck, the order of cards will be changed. However, if you draw something, you must either ensure you draw/mill a certain card before you can claim to have it.
EG: If I burial a level 3 monster, limit reverse it, and then synchro out brionac, somehow generate a draw 1 card, I will have 1 more card in the hand to discard, BUT I cannot use the card, because its not 100% that I drew... lets say Monster Reborn. I can "discard card I drew"

Yes, Ground collapse has been used on two of YOUR zones.

Your opponent is not stupid. He will negate a Mind Control on Wizel.
Your opponent is also not retarded. He will not negate a Mind Control on Wizel if you have 3 monsters on the field, and Ground collapse is still alive.

IF your deck is at 0 Cards, and you Synchro summon with a Librarian on the field, you will lose.

In your solution, please state the 3 other cards in the deck, if you are calling upon all of them.

DO Look up FGD's effect. It will not die to massively powered up Gigantech Fighter

If you mill 12 cards off the opponent's deck, even if you are at 200 life and 0 cards in the deck, you will win(because the opponent will lose at the start of the next turn)

HINT:
Most cards you play you only play for a certain number of its effects. Try looking at ALL of them.

Use the effects you cared existed.
(Like Ancient Fairy being able to special summon cards from your hand)
(Yes it has a stupid special summon effect >.>)
On a completely unrelated note, Ancient Fairy Dragon is LIGHT. You know, for those who didnt know it exists.

And there is ONLY ONE incredibly amazing omg wtf move that I'm trying to make people see. After that, the rest is rather simple and straightforward.

Keep in mind that you ideally should be able to get rid of 3 Five Headed Dragons, not just 2...

January 20, 2011

So why do you main deck Wizel?

So, recently,

it has come to my attention that in some circles

"Because it is AWESOME"

Is NOT valid justification for running at least 1, most of the time two, Machine Emperor Wizel Infinity's in every single of my decks.

(yeah. Hilarious. I know.)

Before people start commenting that it is a completely valid and acceptable justification, for the sake of the people who disagree, I will try to list out all the reasons why you should at the very least, give it a try.

First and foremost, it is AWESOME.

Whilst Spells and Traps have to be set one turn in advance, Wizel can be dropped from the hand after a destruction, meaning that most times, the opponent will not have even considered the possibility.

This also means that the play of Mirror Force/Torrential Tribute/Dark Hole/Whatever else there is that was SUPPOSED to throw the momentum of the game in the player's favor... suddenly just did the opposite.

Wizel's effect of being able to suck in Syncros is a very welcome bonus.

Not only does it more or less heavily discourage Syncro summoning, similarly to Hyper Librarian, if and when it does succeed in sucking in a Syncro, its attack will. be. massive.

Regardless of where you come from, 2500 + Somewhere around 2400-2800(where the ATKs of the most commonly used Synchros fall nowadays) is a problem.

A very painful problem. Only made worse by the fact that you just lost a Syncro... before its attack.

Do keep in mind that Wizel has a 2500DEF stat to reckon with. It doesnt die so easily to two books of moon, unlike most other monsters.

You can always just book it yourself to cover for an incoming Gale, or something else equally pitiful against Wizel... you know if you didnt have an Effect Veiler to provide some nice backup.

Wait. TWO Books?

Oh right. If Wizel wasnt good enough already, he can negate spells.

For. Free.

What other vaguely usable cards has a similar effect?

True Six Samurai Shie... that doesnt get eaten up by Wizel the next turn?

None.

So through at least one battle and spell negation alone, Wizel generates quite the advantage by itself. An additional potential +1 if you're staring down some Syncros.

So. Whats the drawbacks?

There are two drawbacks to Wizel that make it "balanced"

But no less AWESOME.

First, it doesnt allow other monsters to attack.

So what? I wouldnt overextend with this bad boy on the field. And I'm pretty sure you wont either.

If anything maybe throw down a Raiou next to him just for the fun of it.

The second is its summoning condition.

Having a monster be destroyed and sent to the graveyard might SEEM hard to achieve... until you start thinking outside the box.

Chances are, that in YOUR deck, you're running at least 4 to 5 cards that do exactly this for you. You just never noticed it.

Torrential and Dark Hole, of course, but also Scrap Dragon, Zeradias, and Limiter Removal can also be used in this way!

Thats about it for today.

Did I mention IT IS AWESOME?

Convert Contact is awesome.

It sets up Elemental monsters for E Hero Fusions.

Instant Chaos Sorcerer or Frost and Flame Dragon.

So why not just push through a bunch of draw cards, and if you can assemble an OTK through some Chaos Sorcerers, Frost and Flame Dragon, Synchroing through said monsters, and Elemental Hero Fusions, drop it down?

D.D.R. Sets up some Neos Contact Fusions, as well as generating some Synchro material and/or calling back Neos himself just to beat face.

Oh. Did I mention God Neos?

Thats all for today.

THE SUN!

Did anyone else notice something very interesting about The Supremacy Sun?

Did you notice that its not LIGHT or FIRE

And its not PYRO or ANGEL or even ROCK?

During Training

Call it practice or free play or whatever you will.

A lot of people during free play tend to roll off or try to go first.

Which isnt really conducive, if you think of it.

If you go second, you start the game at a disavantage, because the opponent has set spells and traps to mess you up.

However, in training, it doesnt matter if you win or lose, only that you learn and improve afterwards.

So, during free play, why are you trying to go first?

Whilst it is important to learn how to open, and not completely reveal more or less your entire decklist before the opponent even draws, its harder to play the uphill battle.

Hence, if you know how to play uphill, you can learn the other way around much easier.

Thats all for today.

But... Librarian BF!

Hello ladies and gents.

Look at your BF deck.

Now back to mine.

Now back to yours.

Now back to Mine.

Sadly, it isn’t Mine.

But if you ignore the balance and testing and focus a lot more on summoning a lot of Librarian, it could be a lot like mine.

So I love summoning lots and lots of Librarian.

I'm sure you do too.

It is awesome.

So yes, it does look a lot like most semi competitive Blackwing decks.

The main difference being that its tweaked to summon Librarian.

A. Lot.

The reason we run 2 mistral is that our main power is in Blizzard pulling Kalut into Librarian, followed by a Blizzard pulling Mistral for 2 synchros(and subsequent 2 draw).

Summon Shura, pull a Mistral, and summon Spell Striker. Make Librarian.

So you can trishula the opponent?

I dont care. Make a librarian.
(Actually this leaves Shura on the field and hence if youre holding a Kalut/Setting a Icarus/Both, its a very good choice)

But... LIBRARIAN!

Why is "But... Librarian!" such a good justification for bad plays?

Field: Shura + Kalut + Mistral.

Everybody sensible: Trishula his ass.

I feel dumb

So to get someTrishula files, I went to buy some packs.

So I was thinking that why not get some Solemn Warnings while at it? Effect Veilers or Pot of Dualitys might also be nice.

So I bought 8 packs.

And I opened them on the train, and pulled 1 Gaia Drake, 1 Burei, and 2 Dopple Warriors...

Wait...

:O

Thats all for today.
